The premier intermediate hurlers qualified for the semi-final of the championship after a 1 point victory over Blarney on  Sunday 28/8/2011 in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.  Blarney got off to a great start and lead by 2 points in the opening 5 minutes playing against a strong breeze.  However Newcestown edged their way back into this contest-where both defences were well on top to lead by 0-9 to 0-7 at half time.  Newcestown further extended their lead early in the second half only for Blarney to strike back with a goal and a few points to take a 3 point lead with 12 minutes remaining.  Tadhg Twomey scored a vital goal for Newcestown which turned the game once again.  Newcestown added two further points late on and held out from a gallant Blarney outfit (Final score 1-15 to 1-14).  Newcestown will now play Youghal in the semi-final in a couple of weeks.
