Newcestown v Ballincollig 31/7/2011

The intermediate hurlers advanced to the quarter final of the championship following a hard fought one point victory over Ballincolling last Sunday night in Cloughduv.  On a prefect night for hurling, before a large crowd there was little to separate the sides throughout.  This was always going to be a low score affair with both defences well on top.  Newcestown trailed 0-7 to 0-6 at the break, but on the resumption Newcestown took a hold on the game and took a 1 point lead.  However, Ballincollig responded in determined fashion and with time almost up the sides were level.  An excellent taken free from Newcestwons Eoin Kelly proved to be difference late on.  Final score 0-11 to 0-10.  Newcestown now play Blarney in the Quarter final.
