JCHC SW Final 6/10/2012

The Junior C hurlers had a comprehensive win over St. Oliver Plunketts in the south west final last
Saturday evening in sun drenched Timoleague on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-6. The Newcestown team
contained several well know players who at an earlier stage in their playing career played at higher
grades but this victory was very pleasing to them. The full forward line had an average age of over
40years and certainly hadn’t lost their touch for putting the ball between the sticks. In particularly,
veteran full forward Patrick Condon finished with a tally of 2-5 from play. Alongside him former Cork
Senior hurling captain and current captain of the Junior C squad displayed the trickery and ball skills
that he had made his name from. Padraig ‘sid’ Crowley and Alan Keane launched balls with military
accuracy to their inside forwards with great effect throughout while Mikey Hickey and John Wilson
marshalled a mean defence that were not in the mood to giving anything away. No doubt these
players (along with additional veteran players) will be back next year to try and defend their title.
