Newcestown Hurling, Football and Camogie Clubs were superbly represented at the Carbery Final of Scór na bPáistí on Sunday, February 9th in Ballydehob. In a packed hall, expectations were high for those that came through from the Semi-Finals held the previous Sunday in Rossmore.

First up was Eimear Dinneen who competed in Solo Dance taking home 2nd place following a graceful display of intricate footwork.

Next to take the stage was the Instrumental Music Group, consisting of Caoimhe Deasy, Gobnait Kiely, Tomás Kiely, Seán Deasy and Maighreád Kiely, they played a jig and a reel and a resounding performance secured 1st place.

Adam Giles on mandolin and Colm O'Donovan on concertina competed in the solo music section where Adam secured 1st place in what was a very competitive round.

The quiz team, Gobnait Kiely, Ross Power and Edmund Kenneally, made a great start and were ahead after the first round. They were unfortunate to miss out on winning the final finishing a mere 2 points behind.

Congratulations to all who represented Newcestown at the Carbery competitions and best of luck to Adam and the Instrumental Group as they go forward to represent Newcestown and the Carbery Division at the County Semi-Finals in March.
