Newcestown under 14 camogie girls recently competed in the Carbery final aganst Kilbrittain in Bandon but unfotunately ended up losing out on a winners medal.

There was no time for licking their wounds as it was off to Delaneys a week later to play Millstreet in the B county semi final. This was a much fancied Millstreet side so the Newcestown girls approached this match with much trepidation. However from the off it was obvious that  Newcestown were in no mood to be beaten for the second time in a week as they took the battle to Millstreet. A goal and a point apiece for Chloe O'Leary and Maria Kenneally left Newcestown ahead  by 2-2 to 0-2 after the first quarter. While the forwards were causing wreck at one end the defence were also putting on a sterling display at the other end , thwarting one Millstreet attack after the other. They managed to limit their opponents to just three points in the first half with goalkeeper Orla Dinneen making several important saves. Half time score Newcestown 3-4 Millstreet 0-3

The second half saw more of the same with the Newcestown girls playing out of their skins. They continued to add on the scores at a regular rate to keep the Millstreet girls at bay.Try as they might Millstreet could not break down a determined Newcestown outfit, Newcestown ran out winners on a scoreline of 6-5 to 0-5
