Newcestown and Western Gaels met in the semi final of the Rebel Óg West under 18A football championship on Tuesday 12 August 2014 in Casteltownkenneigh.

Western Gaels started well and their direct football yielded early scores including a well taken penalty taken by Barra Laoire. Western Gael's midfield was on top, Shane Ó Donnchú doing particularly well. Newcestown's first half scores came from Luke Meade (1-2), Gerard Collins (0-1) and Murt Kennelly (0-2). Western Gaels first half scores came from: Barra Laoire (2-1), Caoimhin O'Murchú (0-1) and Trevor O'Toibin (0-2).

Half time score: Newcestown 1-5, Western Gaels 2-4.

Newcestown did well in mid field in the second half, Seán O'Donovan caught a lot of high balls from kickouts. The forwards worked the ball well to get by the well drilled Western Gael's defense to keep the scores ticking over. Eugene Courtney did well when he came on (replaced Brendan O'Mahony) and ran at the Western Gaels defence at every opportunity. Newcestown's second half scores came from Gerard Collins (0-1), Luke Meade (0-2), Murt Kennelly (0-2), Cian Healy (0-4, 0-2f), Colm Dinneen (0-2) and Jason Jordan (1-0). Western Gael's second half scores came from: Ciaran O'Riordán (1-0) and Barra Laoire  (1-0)

Full time score: Newcestown 3-16, Western Gaels 4-4.

Rereree: Joe Crowley Randal Óg.

Newcestown will meet Illen Rovers in the final.
