The U16 hurlers qualified for the U16 premier 2 county final following a narrow one point victory over Fr. O’Neills in CIT last Friday night.  Newcestown won the toss and decided to play against the strong wind and heavy rain in the 1st half and ultimately this proved to be the correct decision.  A well taken goal by Newcestown’s  Murt Kennelly ensured the sides finished the half on level terms.  Newcestown immediately took advantage of the elements at the beginning of the 2nd half and raced into a 4 point lead by the 40th minute mark.  However Fr. O’Neills battled hard and with 3 minutes remaining drew level.  However, a last gasp free by Trevor Horgan was all that separated the sides.  Newcestown will now play Blarney in the county final this weekend
