U14 Hurling Championship vs Sliabh Rua 10/5/2015

Newcestown under 14 hurlers met Sliabh Rua in the first round of hte Rebel Óg Premier 2 championship on Sunday 10 May at 7pm in Brinny. It was raining heavily before the match, just after the throw in the rain stopped and a strong wind favoured the Newcestown lads in the first half. Seamus O'Sullivan scored a goal just before half time to leave the boys in red and yellow leading by 1-6 to 0-2 at the break. Sliabh Rua had the wind behind them in the second half, however Newcestown kept the score board ticking over. A few close in frees from Sliabh Rua were saved by the combination of the goal keeper Cathal Wilson and the full back line of Tadhg Galvin, James Ryan and Ciarn Durkin. In the closing minute of the game, Seamus O'Sullivan scored his second goal. The full time score was Newcestown 2-10, Sliabh Rua 0-7.
