3rd August 2018 U14 Hurling Championship

Newcestown V St. Colums in Castletownkenneigh at 7pm

Half time score: Newcestown 0-3  St. Colums 2-7
Normal Full time score:  Newcestown 4-10  St. Colums 3-13
Extra time Full time score:  Newcestown 5-13  St. Colums 4-19

The first half of this game saw it slowly slip away from Newcestowns grasp.  Although they kept fighting, with scores coming from Joe Kenneally (0-1) and Ciaran O’Donovan in the first half, it looked like it was not going to be.  A lot of encouragement must have been given at half time because Newcestown came out a new team.  Although St. Colums were physically bigger, Newcestown kept fighting and getting the scores to level the game at normal time, making it a very exciting match. Ronan McSweeney in goal did well while James Burrows kept things at bay in defence.  Good free taking by Ciaran O’Donovan in the second half meant Newcestown kept coming with the scores, always catching up with St. Colums.  Other scores from Niall Kelly, Eoin McSweeney, Conor Galvin and Flor Kenneally kept the game on edge but Newcestown were very unlucky to loose out by a short gap.  A thrilling game that every U14 Newcestown player should be proud of.
