Newcestown under 14's got their football championship (West Division grade B) campaign off to a winning start with a 3-10 to 1-10 win over Kilmichael in Castletown Kinneigh on Friday 12 July at 7:30pm.

Kilmichael started the stronger scoring the first two points and were unlucky not to have scored a goal, the cross bar came to Newcestown's rescue. Daire McAree scored Newcestown's first goal on 7 minutes.

Newcestown's second goal was scored after 26 minutes following a good passing move. It was started by Padraig Collins in mid field who passed it to Colm O'Donovan who supplied the pass to Olan Walsh who finished to the net.

Kilmichael's point taking from play was both impressive and consistent in the first half. Their goal came just before half time.

Half time score Newcestown 2-4 Kilmichael 1-10.

Newcestown dominated the second half, outscoring Kilmichael by 1-6 to 0-1. This dominance was driven by the defense and the link players in mid field who delivered the ball quickly to the forwards.
