Minor football championship vs Inniscarra 10/9/2013

Newcestown lost out to Inniscarra in the semi final of the premier 2 football championship on the evening of Tuesday September 10 in Cloghduv. Newcestown got off to a good start and scored 1-4 without reply. Following this, both teams scored two points each. Inniscarra got a free 50m from the Newcestown goal. They took it quickly, the ball was kicked to an unmarked player who slotted the ball low past an advancing Cathal Clarke. At half time Newcestown led by 1-6 to 1-2.

Inniscarra started the second half at a fast pace and the sides were level soon after the resumption with a point from play and a goal scored from a penalty. They were on top on all parts of the field and limited Newcestown to 2 points in the second half. Their defense was solid, they were first to the ball on most occasions. Final score Inniscarra 2-9 Newcestown 1-8.
