The minor footballers capped off a fantastic year for this talented group by winning the Minor A county final in Coachford last Sunday afternoon where they defeated Inniscarra on a scoreline of 3-7 to 3-5.  Newcestown raced into an early lead with two well taken goals by Jack O’Tool and looked to be well on top of their opponents.  However, Inniscarra battled hard and by half time had clawed themselves back into the game and in fact were leading by a single point when the sides took to the field for the second half.  Newcestown took a grip once more on the game but yet again Inniscarra came back into the game and with time almost up looks set for victory when they held a 2 point lead.   This Newcestown side are not for throwing in the towel and with virtually the last kick of the game centre back Michael McSweeney was at the end of a Cian Healy cross to finish the ball to the net to spark off wild celebrations.  Newcestown now hold the Minor A football cup alongside the Minor A hurling county cup this group of players captured a number of weeks ago.
